The man suspected of having attacked a stretcher bearer at the Challans hospital (Vendée) on Saturday, arrested on Tuesday, was placed in pre-trial detention after requesting time to prepare his defense during an immediate appearance hearing at the Criminal Court. Sables-d’Olonne, reports Wednesday April 10 France Bleu Loire Océan. He will be judged on April 26.

Aged 23, the young man appeared Wednesday morning before the Sables-d’Olonne judicial court for “violence against a health professional followed by incapacity for work for more than eight days”. In police custody, he admitted to having hit the stretcher bearer because his father and his cousin were not taken care of quickly enough, according to him. He asked for more time to prepare his defense. In the meantime, and following the requests of prosecutor Gwenaëlle Coto, he remains in pre-trial detention.

At the time of the events, the young man accompanied his father and his cousin to the hospital, with other relatives, according to the public prosecutor. Judging their wait too long, these people then became “agitated”. One of them hit a stretcher bearer in the parking lot, seriously injuring him, before fleeing.
