The Ferris wheel, trampolines and beach area are back on the quays of the Garonne. The 20th edition of Toulouse Plage takes up its summer quarters from July 22 to August 22 at the Prairie des Filtres.
More than 30 sports and a large number of activities are offered free of charge to Toulouse residents, from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. On the sand, on the grass, on the water, there is something for all tastes and all ages. “Toulouse Plage has a real social utility in this period when we talk a lot about purchasing power because this place benefits free of charge and all summer to tens of thousands of families who do not go on vacation”, assures Jean-Luc Moudenc, the mayor of Toulouse. More than 80 agents from the Métropole are on deck all summer.
An edition under the sign of Olympism
This year Toulouse Plage is putting the spotlight on Olympic sports: 3×3 basketball, rugby, canoeing, beach volleyball, table tennis, badminton and even rowing… The metropolis is thus highlighting the “Terre de Jeux” labelobtained in January 2021, proof of his commitment to the next Olympic Games.
Several novelties… of size
Among the novelties, a large climbing wall 8 meters high for climbing enthusiasts. It is also possible to rent small boats, even without having a boat license, to sail on the Garonne. These small boats will remain at the quay until October 12. “What matters to us is above all to renew a formula acclaimed by the people of Toulouse”believes Jean-Luc Moudenc, citing for example the success, year after year, of the toy library and library spaces.
Other spots for idleness for the summer in the pink city: the “Racines” guinguette at Port Viguerie until September 10 and of course, the unmissable La Ramée Plage in Tournefeuille from July 9th until August 28th. Swimming is supervised there every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
