The 2003 national junior team was also allegedly involved in a gang rape

Hockey Canada says members of the 2003 National Junior Team are being investigated for an alleged gang rape.

The national federation said it became aware of the alleged crime on Thursday, after a reporter contacted the body for comment.

Hockey Canada says it immediately contacted Halifax Regional Police about the allegations. Halifax was one of two host cities for the 2003 World Junior Hockey Championship. The organization also notified Sport Canada of the allegations.

The national federation lost its funding from the federal government in addition to several national sponsors due to an alleged gang rape involving the 2018 national junior team.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday that Hockey Canada will need to do some honest soul-searching as the sport federation continues to deal with the fallout from its handling of the alleged sexual assault — and an out-of-court settlement.
