A 14-year-old minor suspected of having fatally hit the driver of a car in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine) on the night of Monday to Tuesday during a chase with the police, was presented Thursday, June 6 to an investigating judge with a view to his indictment, indicates the Créteil public prosecutor’s office (Val-de-Marne) to franceinfo. He was referred to the Créteil judicial court on Wednesday as part of the opening of a judicial investigation.

The Créteil public prosecutor’s office requested his indictment for “involuntary manslaughter by a driver committed with at least two aggravating circumstances (absence of driving license and clearly deliberate violation of an obligation of caution/safety imposed by law or regulation)”. An indictment also required for “concealment of theft”, “rebellion”, “refusal, by the driver of a vehicle, to obey a summons to stop directly exposing others to a risk of death or disability permed”.

According to the Créteil public prosecutor’s office, “the accused admitted all the facts with the exception of rebellion at the time of his arrest”. The prosecution requested the placement under judicial supervision of the minor, with an obligation to respect placement in a closed educational center (CEF), a ban on driving a vehicle, an obligation of care and a curfew. The Créteil public prosecutor’s office recalls that as the minor is under 16 years old, his placement in pre-trial detention is impossible.

According to the very first elements of the investigation transmitted by the Créteil public prosecutor’s office, “the police force in Palaiseau (Essonne) would have seen [dans la nuit de lundi à mardi] their attention attracted by a vehicle reported stolen. The driver allegedly refused to comply with the injunctions and fled, taking many risks.” Arrived in Clamart, the 14-year-old driver “reportedly lost control of the vehicle and hit a car coming the wrong way. The driver of the vehicle died”adds the prosecution.
