(Penticton) Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said Wednesday that the team’s No. 1 goaltender, Thatcher Demko, will miss the start of training camp.
Allvin did not specify why the 28-year-old American will not be on the ice Thursday, as his teammates begin their preparations for the upcoming campaign.
Demko missed several weeks of the 2023-24 season and most of the playoffs with a knee injury.
In his 51 games last season, the six-foot-four goaltender did well, posting a 35-14-2 record with a 2.45 GAA and .918 save percentage.
Center Teddy Blueger and defenseman Cole McWard will also miss the start of camp with lower-body injuries.
The Canucks announced Tuesday that forward Dakota Joshua will also miss the start of camp after undergoing surgery to treat testicular cancer.
