What a season for Paris Basketball! After winning the first title in the club’s history in mid-February by winning the Leaders Cup, they are crowned with their very first European coronation. The capital club won the Eurocup (C2) thanks to its victory (89-81) in Bourg-en-Bresse on Friday April 12, a title which also offers it a ticket for the next Euroleague.

The final victory of this club, created from scratch in 2018, transfigured last summer with the arrival of a coach (the Finnish Tuomas Iisalo), two assistants and six players from Bonn (Germany), dedicates a season perfect continental, where he only fell once (for 22 successes) in the groups, and crushed the play-offs, beating Badalone (1-0) and the London Lions (2-0), before the Bressans.

TJ Shorts still decisive

The 22 points from the essential TJ Shorts, MVP of the competition, still weighed heavily in controlling Frédéric Fauthoux’s protégés. The American pocket leader (1.75m) with dyed red hair, honored his very recent title, finishing as the match’s top scorer, notably thanks to 13 points scored during a first period where he kept Paris in touch ( 43-46) against the “Game”, skillful at long distance (7/13) and which started with a bang (16-9).

The Parisians, who won the series two victories to zero (77-64 at the end of the first round) join Monaco, until now the only club in the French championship to win the competition, in 2021. All this, at the end of only their second European campaign, and without having yet played in the play-offs of the French championship.
