Six minutes of euphoria. Lyon supporters had to wait until the very end of the match to experience the exhilaration of a stunning victory. Trailing 2 goals to zero, the Lyonnaises reversed the course of the Champions League semi-final first leg, Saturday April 20, by winning at home against the Parisiennes (3-2). The eight-time European champions took a slight advantage to reach another final.

More than classic – OL and PSG met for the seventh time in C1 – the poster kept its promises from the start of the match, played in front of 35,000 spectators. After a balanced start to the match, the Parisiennes suffered from the frank attempts of the Lyonnaises. Solid, PSG goalkeeper Constance Picaud saved hers three times in the first period. Yet dominated, it was Jocelyn Prêcheur’s players who opened the scoring, shortly before the break, thanks to star scorer Marie-Antoinette Katoto (43rd).

The specter of the 2022 semi-final

The striker increased the score by doubling the lead after returning from the locker room (48th), knocking out Sonia Bompastor’s players and joining Kadidiatou Diani at the top of the best European scorers. But the Lyonnaise quickly regained her crown and sounded the revolt ten minutes from the final whistle by scoring her eighth goal (80th) in nine European matches.

The Parisiennes then sank. With a powerful strike, the Haitian Melchie Dumornay (84th) brought her team back to a tie, before Amel Majri, who had just entered the game, finished the job (86th) and offered victory to Fenottes.

The score, but also the context, will bring back bad memories for the players of the capital club. Already in April 2022, the Lyonnaises beat them 3-2 in the first leg of the C1 semi-finals. In the return match, the OL players increased their lead (2-1). Will the scenario repeat itself on April 28 at the Parc des Princes?
