15 “new generation” TGVs have been ordered by SNCF from the Alstom plant in Belfort, for a amount of nearly 590 million euros. A new order to cope with the growth in rail traffic.

Here are the trains of the future: TGVs partly manufactured in Belfort (Territory of Belfort), which will allow the Comtois site to guarantee a future. This is all the more true since the order for 15 additional trains. A good announcement, certainly, but there are still some questions. “Management really needs to invest in a massive hiring plan”says Eddy Cardot, CGT union representative.

On the side of the town hall, caution is in order. This contract would perpetuate the site for a few years, without any further guarantee. “This is good news, but it does not solve all the problems of the Belfort site. We are waiting for a big contract for the Toronto metro (Canada), which could help create jobs additional”, says Damien Meslot, mayor (LR) of Belfort. The first trains will be produced by Alstom next year and deployed over ten years.
