TF1 has finally just reacted to the plummeting audiences

Since the launch of the new season of Koh Lanta, the program has struggled to take off. If the survival show remains overall at the top of the hearings during its broadcast on Tuesday evenings, it only brings together four million faithful at best. And yet, the casting seemed on paper rather promising. The personalities of Jean-Philippe, Alexandra or Samira promised strong exchanges and many twists. But departures and retirements due to injury have reshuffled the cards of the adventure.

Faced with the disappointments of some viewers and rather sluggish audiences, the first channel tries to put things into perspective. The figures, according to Xavier Gandon, director of the TV and digital antennas of the TF1 group, are to be put into context. “Digital has gone from 12 to around 20% of the audience“, emphasizes the one who does not forget to measure the importance of replay viewing. “So we have episodes around 4 million plus 1 million replays, for a total audience share of around 5 million.“.

Asked by our colleagues from Puremédias, Xavier Gandon mentioned some possible adjustments: “There is no ongoing filming of a new season. There will therefore be no second season of Koh-Lanta at the start of the school year“, he said before adding that the show could return to the screens, not on Tuesday but on Friday, as it has been the case in previous years. “The Tuesday evening slot is not necessarily intended to remain a stream program slot. It will depend on the offer of American series. We will be pragmatic“.

If the fans of the program will not have the right to a double ration of Koh Lanta this year, they can console themselves with the declaration of Denis Brogniart who promises the return of an All Stars edition: “It is out of the question to imagine a definitive end to the All Stars seasons. But on the other hand, we want new blood. But adventurers must stand out, and have a significant cradle of candidates“.
