(Austin) A judge in the US state of Texas, where abortions are prohibited with very rare exceptions, decided Thursday to authorize an abortion to a woman whose pregnancy could threaten her life and fertility, according to her doctor.
Kate Cox, 31, learned last week that her fetus had Down syndrome and is demanding an abortion. During an emergency hearing, Austin court judge Maya Guerra Gamble granted his request, ruling that the idea that Mme Cox losing the chance to become a mother again was “shocking.”
