The scandal continues in French nursing homes. After the revelations of mistreatment concerning the Orpea group, another giant is in the sights, the Korian group. Many testimonies are pouring in on cases of ill-treatment. Complaints are expected.
Dysfunction, neglect, mistreatment… The testimonies of families are multiplying against the Korian group, the French number one in retirement homes. Like that of Olivia Mokiejewski, whose grandmother was a resident of the Korian nursing home in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine). A month before his death, in April 2020, “I found my grandmother with bruises everywhere, she had fallen, I had not been warned and no one had called a doctor”. When her grandmother contracts Covid, she has to insist on having her hospitalized, but her condition is already very serious. A complaint was filed against X for endangering the lives of others and manslaughter. A judicial inquiry has been opened.
His lawyer, Me Fabien Arakelian, represents a dozen families who have taken legal action for their parents who are residents of Korian establishments. He denounces the law of silence that surrounds the group. Korian’s management refuses to talk about a system, it talks about individual and particular cases. He declares that he has set up an audit system to control his establishments.
