Test bench | The 2022 Lexus NX competition

The Lexus NX has its share of fans. Other options are also available, such as the Acura RDX, the Audi Q5 and the Lincoln Corsair.

Acura RDX

The RDX is being upgraded for the first time this fall. More dynamic and a bit more spacious, the RDX does not bury the NX so far. The Lexus is indeed more sober at the pump, better soundproofed and offers as a bonus two hybrid versions, absent from the catalog of Acura. While Lexus has revised its copy, the RDX still retains a nervous tactile keyboard that is difficult to navigate on the central screen. For the buyer in search of emotions, the A-Spec version of Acura is more convincing than the F Sport of Lexus, even if the calipers do not have the bite expected to slow it down quickly.

Audi Q5

Price: from $ 47,500 (2021)

Audi Q5

Audi’s Q5 is one of the favorites in the category. With reason. The Q5 continues to evolve, as evidenced by the changes that will be made to it each year. In its current configuration, the Q5 is one step ahead of the NX in all registers if your choice is the entry-level versions. On the other hand, if hybrid powertrain is among your criteria, the NX wins. Especially the 450+, which has an electric range twice that of the Audi.

Lincoln Corsair

Price: from $ 44,795 (2021)

Lincoln Corsair

The Corsair is arguably the most gifted of American-designed luxury utility vehicles to rub shoulders with the Lexus NX. This model, unlike its predecessor, the MKC, has cleverly stood out (aesthetically and technically) from the image of an ennobled Escape. More comfortable and just as well soundproofed as the NX, the Corsair benefits from a more lively mechanics (2.3 L), but more thirsty for hydrocarbons. A plug-in hybrid version is also in the catalog. This one is sold at an even better price than the Lexus, but does not, it is true, offer such exceptional performance.
