Test bench | Competition from the Toyota Prius Prime

The competition is slim against the Toyota Prius Prime. In fact, only one competitor, the Mazda MX-30, may make the interested buyer hesitate.

Mazda MX-30

Price: from $42,650

The Prius Prime finds itself alone in its segment. Nevertheless, Toyota considers that the Prius Prime could prove to be just as “clean” as an electric vehicle. From then on, Mazda’s MX-30, with a claimed range of 200 km, appeared as a potential rival. For daily trips (from home to work, for example), it’s fine, but the Mazda can’t do much more. The hope of attaching a (rotary) gasoline engine to its electric thruster is no longer relevant for North American consumers, confirms its manufacturer.
