Test bench | Competition from the Genesis G70

Just like Genesis, these three brands also want to represent a credible alternative to German brands.

Acura TLX

Price: starting at $53,750

Acura’s TLX is aging quite well, but in many respects hardly compares to the G70, with the four-cylinder. Despite the liveliness of its engine, the TLX appeared noisier and hardly more economical at the pump than the Genesis. Dynamically, the TLX (still with the four-cylinder) is not as refined, despite having more sophisticated all-wheel drive than that of the G70.

Cadillac CT5

Cadillac CT5

Like the G70, Cadillac’s CT5 doesn’t particularly shine in terms of roominess. Additionally, its presentation awkwardly masks some lower-quality materials. On the other hand, Cadillac offers a much more complete and exciting range (CT5-V Blackwing). Compared to the G70, the CT5 equipped with the four-cylinder fails to gain the upper hand over its South Korean rival. Its four-cylinder lacks refinement and the management of the 10-speed automatic transmission suffers from thoughtlessness.

Infiniti Q50

Price: starting at $49,940

Infiniti Q50

The G70 is very reminiscent of the Q50 when it was called the G35. It is said. Today, the Infiniti finds itself trailing the Genesis and the competition… Its hood lifts to accommodate only six-cylinders. At the entry level, the 3.0L supercharged engine produces power equivalent to the Genesis’ four-cylinder engine. Naturally, the Infiniti’s V6 offers more subdued performance, but this translates into high consumption. On the other hand, in terms of road behavior, the Q50 does not falter on its old bones and proves to be just as pleasant and exciting as the Genesis.
