Test bench | Competition from the Ford F-150 Lightning

The electrified pickup market is in its infancy. Besides the long-awaited Ford F-150 Lightning, the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck are eye-catchers.

Chevrolet Silverado EV

Price: from $54,398

The bow-tie brand will deliver the first copies of its electrified Silverado from the first quarter of 2023. The WT version intended for professionals will be the first to hit the streets. Like the F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet’s proposal will have two motors and four-wheel drive, but will offer greater range and charging capacity.

Rivian R1T

Rivian will deliver its first R1T pickup trucks in the fall in Canada. Struggling with production difficulties, the young American shoot is positioning its vehicles in a high-end segment. Smaller than the F-150, the R1T is aimed more at outdoor enthusiasts than professionals.

Tesla Cybertruck

Price: not available

Tesla Cybertruck

Tesla caused a sensation by presenting its Cybertruck in November 2019, and then nothing. Postponed more than once, the release of this van with ultra-geometric shapes is now scheduled for the next year. For now, consumers can reserve a copy (refundable deposit of $150) of this model that can have up to four motors and a “crab” mode allowing it to move sideways.
