Test bench | Buick Envista competition

Buick relies on its Envista to rejuvenate its clientele. That the Mazda CX-30, Mini Cooper and Subaru Crosstrek are already appealing! A look at the Buick’s opponents.

Mazda CX-30

Price: from $27,050

Like the Envista, the CX-30 is aimed at customers looking for a crossover that’s not too bulky. Just as refined as the American, the Japanese dons a bodywork with neat details, which houses a cabin that appears even more rewarding. The finish is exquisite and the latest advances in ergonomics, rigorously applied. However, it will be criticized for improved visibility and rather basic functionality. More fun to drive than the Envista, the CX-30 benefits from a chassis that is both stiffer and more homogeneous (road holding and comfort). With a larger displacement, its 2.0L engine ensures more direct acceleration, and the automatic transmission that accompanies it correctly manages its six gears. In addition, the Mazda offers all-wheel drive as standard.

Mini Cooper

Price: $34,290 (2020 price)

Mini Cooper

The little German-British is much more fun to live and drive than the Envista. However, although its warranty is just as generous as the Buick, the Mini is more expensive to maintain and in terms of operating costs. Always facing the Envista, the Cooper 5-door is displayed at even more attractive prices. The Envista has the merit of being negotiated at a much better price, but also of offering mechanics almost as lively and frugal as that of the Mini. In addition, its interior is much less cramped. More functional too.

Subaru Crosstrek

Price: from $28,995

Subaru Crosstrek

Renewed this year, the Crosstrek remains one of the safe bets in this category. Unlike the Envista, the Crosstrek de facto offers all-wheel drive, which provides an increased sense of security on a surface with a low grip coefficient. A feature that does not tax fuel consumption too much. Boasting a more relaxed suspension than before, the Crosstrek proves to be almost as comfortable as the Envista on roads that don’t live up to their name very well. However, the Buick’s ride silence is superior and the warranty even more generous than that of the Subaru.
