Terrenoire is in fact two brothers Raphaël and Théo Herrerias. Two Stéphanois who chose to call their group after the town where they grew up (and which in 1970 became a district of Saint-Étienne). With Bernard Lavilliers, they sing I got from her, in which the three men of different generations declare their love for this working-class city battered by economic upheavals but which retains an undeniable capacity for renewal.

And it is this city that allowed a magical encounter, because the two brothers were by no means absolute fans of the interpreter of On the road again. They were more Nougaro. But as Rapahël tells it, “We talked about Saint-Étienne right away and after hours of discussions, we said to ourselves: ‘We have to write a song about the city. And for several days, we co-wrote the song. C was very fluid! “

If this meeting with Lavilliers is a chance for Raphaël and Théo, the duo is far from being a novice. Created in 2017, Terrenoire has refined its very eclectic style (alternating pop, variety, hip-hop, electro) and swe have a very poetic universe before releasing his first album in August 2020 baptized The opposing forces. An album marked by the death of their father in 2018. A terrible pain but a founding stage in their personal history which reflected on their music and gave birth to magnificent titles like Behind the sun.

In the duet, Raphaël, the older brother, sings and writes. Theo, the youngest, takes care of the arrangements and the production. Both now live in Paris. According to them, all this would not have been possible by staying in Saint-Étienne. You have to know how to leave to become someone. But Terrenoire always goes back to its roots. “Having one leg at home and another elsewhere to travel, do concerts and then come back home, it is really the articulation that seems the best to us. But we feel Stéphanois, we will always feel Stéphanois, we have too many ties here! “.

They are going to celebrate on Saturday November 20 at 8:30 p.m. with a concert at Le Fil in Saint-Étienne, with La Belle Vie in the first part. A 100% … Saint-Etienne program!
