A dramatic accident occurred on Saturday, July 27, in Saint-Pierre, in Cantal. A suspended wooden terrace fell, killing one person and injuring 39.
Sunday, July 28, in Saint-Pierre (Cantal), the champagne bottles are still there and the decorations are still hanging. The day before, a wedding party turned into a tragedy. An entire piece of the wooden terrace came loose and crashed three meters below. In the village, the shock is intense.
It was 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, when the terrace collapsed while dozens of guests were enjoying the peaceful setting. A 69-year-old woman died of a heart attack. Four guests are still hospitalized, in absolute emergency. According to the authorities, there were no warning signs that the terrace was weakened. The party room built 16 years ago was, according to the mayor, regularly checked. A total of 60 police officers and four helicopters were mobilized. An investigation has been opened for manslaughter and unintentional injuries.
