Be careful if you have to take the train in the Loire this Friday, there may not be many. The CGT Cheminots filed a strike notice to demand better working conditions and salary increases for the department’s signalmen. They are about sixty to work usually, and the movement promises to be very followed.
Almost all signalmen will be on strike according to the CGT
“Most will be on strike“, warns Stéphane Colin, deputy secretary of the CGT Cheminots de Saint-Étienne. “These agents have difficult working conditions, they work very early in the morning or very late at night, all for a salary between 1,300 and 1,700 euros“, continues the trade unionist. “And the management refuses to discuss when we ask for adapted and daytime positions for our colleagues over 50.”
The disruptions will affect lines 9, 10, 11 and 12
- Line 9: Le Puy – Firminy – Saint-Étienne
- Line 10: Saint-Étienne – Givors – Lyon
- Line 11: Clermont – Thiers – Montbrison – Saint-Étienne
- Line 12: Roanne – Saint-Etienne
The SNCF specifies that SMS and emails have been sent to users to inform them of this strike movement and that the timetables have been updated on its website, its application and on the SNCF TER AURA twitter account.
