The UN denounces an intolerable situation on the border between Poland and Belarus. Thousands of migrants have been trying for several days to enter Poland, the Polish authorities accuse Belarus of instrumentalizing its refugees.
In Poland, at Kuznica, migrants from Belarus try to cross the border. They cut down trees to bend the barbed wire. By the hundreds, by force of arms, they try to get to Europe. For its part, Poland accuses Belarus and Russia of organizing migrant smuggling to destabilize Europe. The European authorities that the images showing Belarusian taxis dropping migrants at the border like tourists are evidence of an organized migration that begins thousands of kilometers away.
These migrants would come from Iraq, Afghanistan or even Syria. According to Brussels, 20 countries, including Vladimir Putin’s Russia, would participate to their transport by air. In 13 other countries, they would even have tourist visas issued by Belarusian embassies, to travel to Belarus. “You have imposed sanctions against me, against the Belarusians. You are launching a war against Belarus and you cowards want me to protect you from migrants?“, says Alexandre Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus. For her part, the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, think it is “an attempt by an authoritarian regime to destabilize the democracies around it.” Faced with fears of a spreading conflict, Lithuania has declared a state of emergency.
