Tension mounts in the National Assembly. Monday, February 13, the session had to be interrupted after a rebellious deputy, Aurélien Saintoul, described Olivier Dussopt as an assassin.
Monday February 13, Aurélien Saintoul, an LFI deputy, launched to Olivier Dussopt: “You are an impostor and an assassin.” After a suspension of the meeting, the elected official will present an apology. Olivier Dussopt said: “I hear your excuses, but you will understand that being called a murderer cannot be forgiven. But your excuses have one merit, it is that they allow the debates to continue.” These remarks were condemned by all the leaders of the parliamentary groups without exception.
A series of blows
Marine Le Pen, the leader of the RN, said: “My whole group wishes to support Olivier Dussopt, who was most certainly marked by this very serious and very heavy insult.” This incident adds to a series of outbursts and invective since the beginning of the debates. More than 1,000 amendments have been withdrawn by Nupes, but this will probably not allow the debate to reach Article 7. The latter sets the postponement of the legal retirement age at 64 years.
