Several thousand migrants are stranded at the border between Poland and Belarus. In duplex since Bialystok, Sunday November 14, the journalist Julien Gasparutto takes stock of the situation.
Tensions are mounting on the border between Poland and Belarus. “The press is kept at a safe distance” by the Polish police, says journalist Julien Gasparutto, duplex since Bialystok (Poland), Sunday November 14. 15,000 troops have been deployed. “And the watchword, nobody goes one way or the other”, reports the reporter.
“About fifty migrants managed to cross the barbed wire, they were arrested and sent back to the Belarusian side”, explains Julien Gasparutto, which specifies that “the tension is high between the soldiers of the two countries”. Poland accuses Belarusian military “to help migrants cross the border”. “Faced with this instrumentalisation, the European Union wants to increase the pressure on the regime of Alexander Lukashenko”, adds the journalist. 3,000 to 4,000 migrants are preparing to spend another night in the cold. At least ten people have died since the start of the crisis.
