Félix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, Vasek Pospisil, Brayden Schnur and Peter Polansky will represent Canada in the Davis Cup finals. Milos Raonic, still bothered by a calf injury that recently caused him to miss the Indian Wells tournament, will not be in the game. The Davis Cup will be played from November 25 to December 5 in Madrid.
Aged 21, Auger-Aliassime will participate in the tournament for the fourth time. He recently hit a personal high when he climbed to the 11e ATP rank – currently 12e – and was also part of the U.S. Open four-quarter ace in September.
Shapovalov will be making his eighth appearance. Like Auger-Aliassime, the 22-year-old had a good 2021 season, notably reaching the Geneva Open final and the Wimbledon semi-final. Shapovalov occupies the 13e world rank.
Pospisil will join his compatriots in Madrid for his 21e participation. The 31-year-old, at 85e rank of the ATP, has a record of 12 wins and 11 losses in singles as well as 10 wins and 8 losses in doubles. Schnur will defend his country’s colors for the third time. As for Polansky, he is a veteran of the team which has been selected 14 times and has made 10 appearances.
