Tennis: Félix Auger-Aliassime eliminated in the first round of the Acapulco tournament

Félix Auger-Aliassime knew that Acapulco was known for its cliff diving and famous beaches, but the Quebecer also hoped that this Mexican city would become the destination that would allow him to find consistency in his game.

However, despite winning the first set 6-2 against the young 21-year-old Italian Flavio Cobolli, Auger-Aliassime conceded the next two 6-3 and 6-2. He lost in the first round of the Mexican Open after an hour and 57 minutes of play on Monday evening.

The tennis player ranked 30e in the world concluded the match with five aces, 15 unforced errors and nine double faults. He also won nine service games, and made two breaks in four opportunities.

For his part, Cobolli finished the duel with four aces, 10 unforced errors, two double faults, 10 service wins and four breaks on six occasions.

Cobolli will face in the second round the winner of the match between the fifth seed, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, and the Russian Roman Safiullin.
