Tennessee Titans | Rookie Will Levis becomes starting quarterback

(Nashville) Rookie Will Levis will remain the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans after two starts in place of injured veteran Ryan Tannehill, head coach Mike Vrabel announced Tuesday.

Vrabel confirmed his decision and added that he had already informed the members of the Titans (3-5) earlier Tuesday. They will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5) on Sunday. The Titans made a trade to select Levis at 33e level of the last NFL draft, in April.

“We feel like this is the best option for our team at this time,” Vrabel said.

The Titans want to see how Tannehill progresses after straining his right ankle against the Baltimore Ravens in London on Oct. 15. Vrabel said the Titans expect the 35-year-old veteran to become Levis’ backup.

In two starts, Levis threw four touchdown passes, amassed 500 yards and committed just one interception, while Tannehill threw two touchdown passes and committed six interceptions in six starts. Tannehill is also in the final year of his contract.
