New victims of needle sticks in Nantes nightclubs have filed a complaint in recent days, reports France Bleu Loire Océan on Wednesday March 2. The Nantes prosecutor’s office recorded ten complaints in total, against three last Friday. These are young people, mostly women, who report having been drugged via an injection during an evening in a nightclub. So far, the presence of GHB, the “rape drug”, could not be confirmed.
Since last week, a specific blood sampling procedure has been put in place in collaboration with the Loire-Atlantique departmental public security directorate and the Nantes University Hospital. The toxicological results of these samples are expected within the next ten days.
“The high number of complaints can be explained as well by a real increase in the facts as by the strong awareness-raising actions that have been carried out by the police services in recent days, in Nantes, with the managers of establishments”, explains Renaud Gaudeul, public prosecutor of Nantes. Furthermore, “None of the ten people who filed a complaint mentioned having been subjected to a sexual assault”he continues
