Playing sports is good for you at all ages. The proof, a sports competition was organized in Ehpad de la Nièvre, in Burgundy. Ten establishments compete in several events.

It is an Olympiad between Ehpad. TO Lormes, in the Nièvre, ten establishments compete in a sports competition. Several events are on the program: obstacle course, skill game and throws. Everyone competes according to their abilities and always in a good mood. “It’s wonderful, me, it is with a good heart”, smiles one of the participants. For Lucette, 100 years old, dean of the competition, it brings back memories of her youth. “I have always done sports. I was running and horse riding “, she recalls.

Before the competition, the establishments were able to train during eight sessions. “On each workshop, we tried to promote a capacity that we work in nursing homes”, Explain Pruntha Arun, medico-sports educator at theADESS 80. The objective is above all to promote the practice of adapted sport. “It helps prevent certain impairments such as walking and balance disorders, which is very important”, underlines Raymond Barbier, general practitioner.
