Stéphanie Yon-Courtin, MEP (Renew group) and Ernest Urtasun, Spanish MEP (Les Verts-European Free Alliance group) spoke about the management of Ukrainian refugees undertaken by the European Union.
Stéphanie Yon-Courtin, MEP (Renew group) highlighted “very fast reaction (to the conflict in Ukraine)in a context of unity, of the European Union“. She returned to the issue of temporary protection granted to Ukrainian refugees.”This temporary protection is important because it allows Ukrainians to work immediately, for children to go to school or to be treated”she says.
Ernest Urtasun, Spanish MEP (The Greens-European Free Alliance group) for his part criticizes the different protection status given to refugees. “The possibility is given to discriminate against those who do not have a permanent residence permit in Ukraine. And on that, we could do better”he believes.
