Telethon Gaming, the world of video games at the service of research against rare diseases

With the proliferation of charitable events such as ZEvent or recently “Game 4 animals” (reads Game for animals), the generosity of the gaming world is no longer to be proven. Among these direct which aim to raise money for a good cause, the Telethon launched on November 5 and 6, 2021 the fourth edition of its marathon entitled Telethon Gaming. The show broadcast on the Twitch platform brought together streamers, YouTubers and professional players to raise the jackpot to help research against rare diseases.

For 30 consecutive hours, these enthusiasts played games of various video games to encourage their community to make donations. About ten of them put the cover back on the night of December 3 to 4 at the Forum des Halles in Paris on the occasion of the evening accompanying the program “Telethon Gaming, we play together” on France 2.

For the first time during the Telethon weekend, a television program was specially dedicated to Telethon Gaming. At the presentation, Samuel Etienne, the journalist returned with his guests including streamers Domingo and LittleBigWhale and video game historian Florent Gorges on several themes linking video games and the Telethon. But before this retransmission, viewers had an appointment on France TV’s Twitch channel for 2:30, for the Telethon Gaming before. The live hosted by Canelle Sabourin and Nacer Boubekeur highlighted the 10 streamers present and players with disabilities passionate about video games such as Emma, ​​Baptiste and Laëtitia, witnesses for the AFM.

In total, Telethon Gaming streamers made it possible to glean 143,635 euros, to which must be added more than 350,000 euros collected during the live Twitch and the Telethon Gaming show on France 2 on December 3. Sums which inflated the global counter of the Telethon 2021, which amounted to 73,622,019 euros. Aid accelerates research to help millions of people with rare diseases.
