In Puy-de-Dôme, a doctor imagined a pair formula for telemedicine, used to respond to the lack of general professionals. His medical assistant goes to patients’ homes, while the doctor directs the consultations from his office.
In Perrier (Puy-de-Dôme), a town of 900 inhabitants, Dr. Mathieu Flandin is the only general practitioner. While his assistant comes to the home, he sees his other patients. Installed for ten days, it was necessary to increase the provision of care. “Even though we have a hospital a few minutes away, today there are no longer enough doctors to see the entire population”indicates Mathieu Flandin, creator of DOKADOM 63.
A reassuring presence
It’s real teamwork. The medical assistant is with a patient. A few kilometers away, the doctor conducts the consultation from his office. For Chantal Borel, a patient, telemedicine is a brand new practice, but the presence of the assistant reassures her. For the moment, the team is operating within a radius of around twenty kilometers. She hopes to grow and create a network with other doctors.
