The surprise

The big Rona construction site

Who would have thought that a renovation competition would turn into melodrama? However, this is what happened last Thursday, when Jack (by far the best construction man in the group) and Jessie left the red house, after being put in danger by the blue team, which actually part of his eternal rival, the ex-comedian Maxime Dumontier. Their departure sparked a torrent of tears, mixed with a few “I’m so sorry.” For this final week of work, four couples are still competing to win the fully furnished and renovated house worth $700,000. But be careful, we promise a surprise double elimination with – obviously – a lot of emotion.

If we still loved each other

Sixth and final week of the docu-reality that we like to dissect in groups on weekends. Our interest wavered this season, depending on which couples were taking the floor. Even today, it is difficult to explain why the production team selected Madeleine and Michel, who did not elicit much, apart from “Awww so cute!” » by Émily Bégin and Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge. While with the other pairs, Louise Sigouin explored rich themes such as adultery, physical and verbal violence, drug and alcohol consumption and anxiety, with Madeleine and Michel, the relationship support expert had to discuss wasp eating at lunchtime, or even puzzle methodology.

Director Louis Choquette and actor Michel Cordey

Whether you watched or not Cloakrooms, this excellent sketch comedy starring people with disabilities, you will enjoy this spin-off documentary series which, as its title suggests, shows behind the scenes. Produced by Sphère Média and directed by Mélanie Dion, this collection of 6 30-minute episodes introduces us to the (talented) actors of the show. We start with Andréanne Fortin, a young woman of 28 who is pursuing a career as a professional actress despite her Gilles de la Tourette syndrome, and Michel Cordey, a 38-year-old man, suffering from a bone fragility disease which requires traveling in a wheelchair.

AMI-télé, starting Wednesday at 8 p.m. (catch-up on amiplus.ca)

The cyclist Hugo Houle

Those who can no longer wait for the start of the Paris Olympic Games (scheduled for Friday July 26) will undoubtedly watch this documentary series with avidity. Produced by Radio-Canada Sports, its 10 half-hour episodes allow us to reconnect with 10 Canadian athletes and medal hopes for 2024. It starts strong with Hugo Houle, this cyclist from Sainte-Perpétue who lives in Monaco for five years, a move to which he attributes his stage victory at the Tour de France in 2022. On the program for the following weeks: Tammara Thibeault (boxing), Félix Dolci (gymnastics), Shady Elnahas (judo), as well as Jacqueline Simoneau and Audrey Lamothe (artistic swimming), among others.
