Tele-radar | Our TV suggestions of the week

Every week, The Press scan the TV offering to identify four titles to watch.

The special: Plamondon: words that resonate

Because we love the inventive and just offbeat musical events that Télé-Québec has been offering for several years, we certainly weren’t going to miss this special show devoted to Luc Plamondon’s repertoire. Directed by Christian Lalumière (The last closet), this one-hour show spoils us with astonishing rereadings of the lyricist’s classics, including Ziggyperformed by Martha Wainwright, Summer roads (in my camaro)dusted off by Clay and Friends, Oxygenpushed with passion by Ariane Roy, and Love still exists, offered by Laurence Jalbert. Alex McMahon (who accompanies Mélissa Bédard on Hymn to the beauty of the world) provides musical direction, and Lydia Bouchard (Revolution), the choreographies with Merryn Kritzinger.

Télé-Québec, Saturday at 9 p.m. (rebroadcast Sunday at 8 p.m.)

How much do you love me ?

Guilty pleasure alert: How much do you love me ? returns with a special reality TV week. We recall the concept of the format: four couples cohabit and test their romantic and genetic chemistry (using a DNA test!) to win up to $3,500. The cast suggests a start to the season that is anything but boring, with Kevins-Kyle (Loft Story) and Antonio, Joël (Survivor Quebec) and Diane, Eve and Denis (Love is in the meadow), and Khate (Double occupation) and Fabrice. The couple names they chose for themselves are something. We talk, in order, about “50 shades of gay”, “No, he’s not my son!” » (Joël is 30 years old, and Diane, 50 years old), “Épis-collés” (an agricultural pun) and “Instababes du nord” (Khate and Fabrice come from Abitibi).

Noovo, Monday to Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

In catch-up: The Americans

Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys in The Americans

Broadcast on FX from 2013 to 2018, this series was until now exclusively offered to Disney+ subscribers. His arrival on Crave changes the situation. No more excuses to ignore it! Starring Keri Russell (The Diplomat, Felicity) and Matthew Rhys (Perry Mason), this captivating thriller recounts the journey of a couple of Soviet spies infiltrated in the United States, who carry out their missions in the middle of the Cold War, under the identity of a suburban family. For a week, we have been revisiting The Americans with much pleasure. The polished artistic direction, the intricate intrigues, the nuanced interpretation of the actors… There are many reasons to love this series. And the more the seasons pass (six in total), the more it gains momentum.

The return : The high mass

Christian Bégin speaks with Marie-Claude Barrette in The high mass.

The intimate meeting show piloted by Christian Bégin and produced by Bazzo Bazzo (There are people at mass) was to return to the air with Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge, but since things happened in recent weeks, the broadcaster preferred to “temporarily put aside” the interview with the actor and aficionado of birches. Thus, this second season begins with Marie-Claude Barrette, a generous guest who abhors gossip and any form of small talk. The proof: during the hour, death will be one of the subjects she will discuss, during a walk around the abbey. During the following weeks, Christian Bégin will meet the former mayor of Quebec Régis Labeaume and the author Kim Lévesque-Lizotte.

Télé-Québec, Friday at 9 p.m.
