The safe bet

kiss

Télé-Québec wraps up its season of major cultural events with this special recording ofkissthe latest piece by Michel Marc Bouchard (The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up, Tom at the farm). We can speak of a safe bet not only because it features a high-calibre trio formed by Théodore Pellerin, Anne-Marie Cadieux and Yves Jacques, but also because it is a production by Déferlantes, the box behind several major television events for the public broadcaster this year, such as Marjo-Love. Presented last fall at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde in Montreal, kiss thrilled the critics. This breathtaking drama tells the story of a budding fashion designer whose world changes when his mother is accused of having violently slapped his neighbor.

Télé-Québec, Saturday at 9 p.m. Rebroadcast Sunday at 9 p.m. Also available at telequebec.tv.

The 94and oscar party

Amy Schumer is one of the hosts of the 94and Oscar night.

After delivering a half-hearted 2021 edition due to a certain pandemic, the organizers of the Oscars have worked hard to stop the drop in audience from which the prestigious ceremony is suffering. On paper, the evening is promising. It will be led by three comedians (Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes and our favorite, Amy Schumer) and will bring together a wide variety of presenters, including Kevin Costner, Anthony Hopkins, Mila Kunis, Lady Gaga, Chris Rock, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Rami Malek, Zoë Kravitz, Tyler Perry, Jamie Lee Curtis and Sean Diddy Combs. We also can’t wait to see what the shortened version of the gala will look like. Indeed, the Academy recently decided to slash eight categories (including those for the best make-up and hairstyles, sets, editing, etc.) to boost broadcasting. Will the amputation operation have the desired effect?

CTV and ABC, Sundays at 8 p.m.

The novelty

A criminal case

Celine Bonnier in A criminal case

Because we loved Miscellaneous factsit’s not really surprising that we love A criminal case. Fruit of the efforts of the same author-director duo, Joanne Arseneau and Stéphane Lapointe, this new detective miniseries of eight episodes tells the tortuous fight of a pugnacious mother (excellent Céline Bonnier) to clear her son (Maxime-Olivier Potvin) accused of a murder he allegedly did not commit. The plot grabs us from the start. Corrupt police officers, an amorous investigator who seems to be protecting a loved one, a regional weekly journalist who lacks polish… The characters that revolve around the heroine are all interesting and well defined. .

Crave (The first four episodes will go live on Wednesday. The next four will be available starting March 30.)

It’s just TV

Alex Perron, Thérèse Parisien, Anne-Marie Withenshaw and Nathalie Petrowski will announce the winners of the 14are Golden zappers.

Anne-Marie Withenshaw, Nathalie Petrowski, Thérèse Parisien and Alex Perron revisit the 2021-2022 TV season by revealing the winners of the 14are Golden zappers. The ceremony will be broadcast live from the Théâtre Paradoxe in Montreal. Among the finalists that we would like to see triumph, we point out the crisis of François (Michel Charette) in Happiness (Burst of laughter category), Schelby Jean-Baptiste hosting the show Don’t lie to you (Revelation), the death of Poupou (Sébastien Delorme) in District 31 (Fictional dramatic moment) and the exchange between Anne Dorval and Julie Snyder at The other noon at the next table (Crispy moment). As for the Grand Prix, it turns me on, the fight will be between One way ticket, Audrey came back, The red wristbands, Plan B and Revolution. Difficult choice. We keep thinking about it…
