On demand : Cheer

On paper, the documentary series Cheer Didn’t have much to please us. A foray into the world of cheerleading in the USA ? Okay. But in less time than it takes the Navarro girls to pull off a double twist at the top of a pyramid, we were hooked. Because Cheer is much more than a truth version of the teen movie bring it on (All for all). We’re talking about an emotional roller coaster featuring charismatic, dedicated and resilient young athletes…not to mention their coach, the irreducible Monica, nicknamed “The Queen”, passionate to the end of her nails. Released last month, the second season contains an impressive number of twists.

The safe bet: Star Académie — the daily newspaper

Star Académie — the daily newspaper

Yes, the Sunday galas of Star Academy rally more viewers, but what we prefer are the Monday reports, when Lara Fabian dissects with a scalpel – but with a lot of “benevolence” – each of the numbers. Living: the spectral spectacle of Klô Pelgag

Whether we love it or hate it, we must salute the audacity of Klô Pelgag. In this musical program, the winner of the Félix for songwriter of the year at the last ADISQ gala takes us to the heart of a colourful, whimsical and offbeat universe: her own. For nearly an hour, the singer presents us with a concert that she will probably never have the chance to offer on stage, her staging is so fragmented. Supported by 3 singers and 11 musicians, including the Montreal Horn Stars brass quintet, she offers 11 excerpts from the album Our Lady of Seven Sorrows (2020) and revisits two songs from The chest starhis previous opus released in 2016. The production of the show is by Laurence Baz Morais, who was also behind the lens for the excellent Blizzard show signed Cœur de pirate, presented in January. And keep an eye out for Roy Dupuis.

On Télé-Québec, Friday at 10 p.m. Also available at telequebec.tv.

The Order of the Solar Temple

Those who were old enough to read newspapers remember this. In the mid-1990s, the sect making headlines was her: the Order of the Solar Temple. With ramifications in France, Switzerland, as well as at CEGEP, this group founded by Luc Jouret and Jo Di Mambro became known for its collective suicides, including that in Morin-Heights, in September 1994, in a burned chalet. . That day, five people were found dead. Produced by Attraction Images (Life after the DYP, Léo-Paul Dion: Confessions of a Killer), this documentary series of six one-hour episodes presents the events leading to the various massacres through interviews (journalists, witnesses, survivors) and archive footage.
