The novelty

pop philosophy

Philippe-Audrey Larrue-St-Jacques offers a series of eight short capsules with which he wishes to stimulate reflection on as many themes: performance, beauty, popularity, sexuality, masculinity, creation, lies and environment. The comedian lends himself to the exercise in the company of several personalities: comedian Mathieu Dufour, former mixed martial arts fighter Georges St-Pierre, influencer Khate Lessard ofDouble occupationformer short-track speed skater Charles Hamelin, columnist Patrick Lagacé, singer Émile Bilodeau, actress Cynthia Wu-Maheux (District 31) and author Sarah-Maude Beauchesne (Fork, the academy). What does the result look like? It’s special, as Philippe-Audrey would say in the second episode.

Arsenio Hall

Dark Side of the 90s

This documentary series from Vice studios will delight all those who, like the person writing these lines, have never really gotten away with the 1990s. After a first season rich in popcorn subjects (teen series, supermodels, trash TV, the rise of grunge), this new batch of episodes (still narrated by Mark McGrath, singer of Sugar Ray) examines 10 other (American) phenomena that symbolize this decade. The first hour is moreover devoted to Arsenio Hall, this black comedian from stand up who, with his young and cool laid-back style, briefly established himself in the very white universe of late-night talk shows, dominated by Johnny Carson.

Jessyca and Jérôme, with their six children, from the show The family is in the meadow

The family is in the meadow

Waiting for the 11e season of Love is in the meadow, which Noovo is due to present (with Katherine Levac at the helm) next winter, we hear from couples and families from previous editions of the show. In the first episode, we visit Jessyca and Jérôme in Saint-Gervais, in Chaudière-Appalaches. We see that Sunday dinner time, with six children on the loose, is sport! We also hear from David and Alex, who are cooking up wedding plans in Saint-Elzéar, among other things. Then, we highlight the first anniversary of Brigitte, the little girl (who moves the air!) of the Clara-Gabriel tandem, in Val-Paradis.

Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes

Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes

Definitely, Netflix is betting big on the story of Jeffrey Dahmer. Less than a month after offering Dahmer – Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer, a fiction series created by Ryan Murphy (so, not subtle for two pennies) inspired by the journey of the murderer, the platform presents the documentary version. Cut into three episodes and directed by Joe Berlinger, a regular in the genre, Conversation with a Killer offers a foray into the twisted mind of the “Cannibal of Milwaukee”, who murdered (and sometimes raped, dismembered, etc.) 17 young men between 1978 and 1991. It points to the work of the police, who left the killer pile victims, homosexuals several of whom were from visible minorities.
