Tele-radar | Four titles to watch

Every week, The Press scans the TV offer to identify four titles to watch.

The novelty

The emperor

Michelle Allen seems to have found her magic touch with this drama series which traces the rise – or even the construction – of a charismatic aggressor, defended with tact by Jean-Philippe Perras. During the first episode, which Noovo will broadcast this week but which can already be viewed on Crave, the author of Runaway and of For Sara takes us on a journey between two eras: 2005, when we were dancing on Miss Ecstasy by Dumas and No Heaven by DJ Champion, and 2015, when the words of rape victims were released. Directed by Adam Kosh, The emperor also features Noé Lira, Charlotte Aubin, Macha Grenon and David Boutin, and shows how far we have come in terms of reporting sexual misconduct.

The voice

After a two-year break during which Star Academy has occupied its niche, the vocal competition with swivel chairs is back on the air with a panel of coaches three quarters renewed. Marc Dupré returns to his position alongside the “recruits” Mario Pelchat, Corneille and, above all, Marjo. ‘Cause if there’s one who can put on a good show, say it straight and call a spade a spade, that’s fine. The one who goes. Speaking of feline expressions, the bohemian rocker clearly formulates her provocative expectations in one of the ads that run on TVA: “We don’t want kittens, we want lions. ” Including ?

The surprise

Bad Sisters (sisters accomplices in French version)

Bad Sisters

We had heard a lot of good things about this series last summer, but with the arrival of the fall novelties, it had found itself far in our priority list. Fortunately, we remembered it during the holiday season because we would have been sorry for having missed this Big Little Lies British, full of suspense and dark humor, which tells the story of the Garvey sisters, who form a tightly knit clan despite their differences. Disclaimer: The series features one of the most loathsome characters in the history of the small screen. A brother-in-law so nauseating you’ll want to kick out your TV. (We’re just exaggerating.)

Martin Matte in For once

For once

Presented last Friday, this hour-long special offered “reverse” interviews. Invited to play the interviewee, Martin Matte answered, in turn, questions from four surprise hosts: Lydia Bouchard, Dany Laferrière, Patrice Robitaille and Arnaud Soly. The result ? Four very different and frankly interesting meetings, which allowed us to discover unsuspected facets of the comedian, whom we have nevertheless heard a thousand times in interviews. In great shape, Martin Matte lent himself to the game with seriousness, humor, frankness and a lot, a lot of generosity. We do not know what fate Télé-Québec will reserve for the concept developed by Urbania, but we know that we would like it to see a sequel.

Télé-Québec, rebroadcast Monday at 9 p.m. and Wednesday at 10 p.m.
