The return : Canada’s Drag Race: may the best win
Restart your engines. The most colorful competition in the country is back in action! In this third season, 12 drag queens will try to win the grand prize of $100,000. Among them, two come from Quebec: the extrovert Gisèle Lullaby, a regular at the Mado cabaret in Montreal, and Lady Boom Boom, who hosts shows at the Le Drague club in Quebec. On the judges’ side, we will find the same panel as last year, namely Brooke Lynn Hytes, alias “Queen in the North”, Traci Melchor, correspondent for the show eTalk, and host Brad Goreski. And of course, various personalities will join the trio over the course of the nine episodes, which will be offered in a version with French subtitles, one per week.
Crave, Thursday at 9 p.m.
The safe bet: So You Think You Can Dance
We like a lot Revolutionbut we have to admit that we prefer So You Think You Can Dance. After a forced break of two (long) years due to a certain pandemic, the competition piloted by Cat Deeley returned to the air at the start of the summer. Even if, at the beginning, we were not totally convinced of the changes made to the format, in the end, our happiness to watch, week after week, varied choreographies performed in duet supplants everything. We are even starting to get attached to the new panel of judges, formed by Stephen “tWitch” Boss, JoJo Siwa and Leah Remini. But we still miss Mary Murphy’s “Hot Tamale Train”. Choo Choo !

Platform : Animal Shelter — Mission: Aristopaws
The animal show is back in service, but in a reinvented formula. After spending seven seasons playing volunteers in various shelters, Stéphane Fallu became interested in Les Aristopattes, a charity that takes care of injured or sick animals (or “maganes”, as the host would say). The comedian introduces us to these adorable cripples, who are welcomed, treated, placed in foster care and then adopted. In the first episode, we paint the portrait of Bleuet, a small dog who, after fracturing two legs falling from a truck, was abandoned at the veterinary clinic because his masters did not have enough money to pay for the operation. In the second episode, we follow a young husky with respiratory problems.

The event: The grocery store
The grocery store loses a big chunk this week. After spending 20 years at the helm of the weekly show, Denis Gagné is officially stepping down. To mark the occasion, Radio-Canada presents a special program of the public affairs magazine on food during which its two co-hosts, Marie-Josée Taillefer (2002 to 2007) and Johanne Despins (2007 to 2022) pay tribute to him. Also on the program: people whom the show has touched and inspired in various ways, including several people who say they learned French by watching its reports. Next fall, Myriam Fehmiu will succeed Denis Gagné. She will take office on September 14.
