A teenager died in a collision with a train in Arnèke (North), Sunday August 21, and an investigation was opened to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy, AFP learned from the prosecution and firefighters. The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmerie.
The firefighters, called shortly after 2 p.m. to “a person hit by a train” at Arnèke station, found the death of a teenager from“about 14 years old” and supported his mother, in a state of shock, reported the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the North. Three witnesses to the tragedy were there, also shocked. Their condition did not require transport by the firefighters, continued the Sdis.
At around 3.30 p.m., approximately 130 passengers were still “detained on the train” involved, a TGV, according to the same source. “Train circulation is currently interrupted on the Dunkirk-Hazebrouck axis due to a personal accident in the Arnèke sector”said the TER Hauts-de-France account on Twitter, estimating the time of resumption of traffic at 5:30 p.m.
