Teen suspected of Montreal murder arrested in Ontario

A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Ontario on Thursday by investigators from the Major Crimes Section of the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) in connection with a homicide that occurred last February in Montreal.

The teenager, who was already incarcerated in a Kitchener facility for a robbery committed with a firearm, is considered a suspect in the case that claimed the life of a 42-year-old man.

He had been the target of several shots fired in the parking lot of a shopping center located at the intersection of des Sources and Brunswick boulevards in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, early in the evening of February 6.

Emergency services deployed to the scene confirmed the victim’s death at the scene. This was the fifth homicide to occur in the metropolis in 2024.

Two suspects then allegedly fled the scene of the crime in a stolen vehicle, which was found the next day.

During the investigation, which is still ongoing, the police have collected various pieces of evidence that have allowed them to identify the 16-year-old suspect. He is currently considered to be the shooter.

Since the young man was already incarcerated, it was easy for the police to arrest him.

Within the next 24 hours, the suspect will appear by videoconference before the Youth Division of the Court of Quebec to answer charges of first-degree murder.

The SPVM is continuing its investigation. Any potential witness is invited to contact the police by going to a neighborhood station or anonymously in order to advance this case.
