Ted Lindsay Trophy | Matthews, MacKinnon and Kucherov are the finalists

(Toronto) Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews, along with Colorado Avalanche forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, were named finalists for the Ted Lindsay Trophy on Wednesday.


This title is awarded annually to the NHL’s MVP after a vote by members of the NHL Players’ Association.

Matthews, who earned this trophy in 2021-22, led the NHL with 69 goals and finished sixth in scoring on the Bettman Tour with 107 points in 81 games.

For his part, Kucherov, who already won this title in 2018-19, finished at the top of the NHL scorers with 144 points (44 goals, and 100 assists) in 81 games, while MacKinnon scored second in the scoring column with 140 points (51 goals, 89 assists) in 82 games.

Kucherov and MacKinnon are also finalists for the Hart Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL’s Most Valuable Player, while Matthews is a finalist for the Selke Trophy awarded annually to the league’s Most Valuable Defensive Forward.
