Channel Master

The Channel Master CM 3412 signal amplifier does not perform miracles, but noticeably improves reception.

When you choose to have only terrestrial TV, the purchase of a signal amplifier may be necessary. We tested it with a reasonably priced Channel Master module, the CM 3412. In town, where the signals are usually strong, it made almost no difference: we had the same 11 channels, with some still taking advantage of a signal amplified by up to 22%. In the countryside, on the other hand, we had the pleasant surprise of obtaining 4 additional channels, going from 19 to 23, especially American channels normally inaccessible. All saw their signal increase, between 11% and 34%. A good purchase, which does not work miracles, but noticeably improves reception.

AirTags

IMAGE PROVIDED BY APPLE

Acknowledging that AirTags could have been used for malicious purposes, Apple announced that a warning would be displayed during their configuration to remind that “following people without their consent is a crime in many parts of the world”.

As expected, Apple’s AirTags are controversial. These small capsules that use the network of iPhones to locate themselves have been used since their launch for espionage, and Apple recently made its mea culpa on this subject. A series of “improvements” have been announced, however leaving many critics unsatisfied. In particular, a warning was added during the first use to remind that “following people without their consent is a crime in many parts of the world”. We promise soon a more precise localization to flush out malicious AirTags, and the correction of an astonishing weakness: the sound emitted by the pellet during an unwanted tracking alert was too weak, practically inaudible.
