Few video game enthusiasts think of IKEA to equip themselves. The Swedish-born company decided to tackle this estimated market of 2.5 billion consumers by partnering with a well-known brand in this field, Republic of Gamers (ROG), to offer a collection of furniture to the sleek design and various accessories.

IKEA-ROG

It starts with a height-adjustable Uppspel V-shaped game desk, starting at $ 679, and an armchair from $ 69 to $ 269. Then we have a slew of accessories, like the Lånespelare light ring with phone holder and a gadget of the same name to hold the mouse cable. Our favorite: a wooden Lånespelare accessory holder in the shape of a robot arm.

Android 12

SCREEN CAPTURE THE PRESS

One of the new features of Android 12 is that the power button is now used to summon the Google Assistant. However, we can return to a more classic configuration by changing a few parameters.

Several readers have pointed out to us what they consider to be a major irritant with Android 12, the latest version of Google’s operating system. While the power button on the side of a phone has almost always been used to turn the device on, off, or restart, now it just calls out the Google Assistant. Samsung has been doing the same for a long time with its Bixby assistant. The good news is that it’s easy to go back to more traditional power button use. Just go to Settings, then System, Gestures and, at the very bottom, select Hold the switch button down. Uncheck the option, and your most important button will no longer call the Google Assistant.

Hive Home

SCREEN CAPTURE THE PRESS

Since November 30, the home automation products of the British manufacturer Hive Home no longer work in North America.

The founder of SmartHalo, a Montreal company that closed last November, leaving some 35,000 devices disconnected, warned us: “These are the limits of the“ internet of things ”: when the servers close, it no longer works. A few thousand Quebec consumers – we do not know their exact number – had the same disappointment last November 30 with Hive Home home automation products. The British company’s thermostats, smart plugs, gateways and light bulbs no longer have any connections in North America. Even Echo devices no longer control them, we found, contrary to what Hive Home claims on its site. And since its services were provided by means of a subscription, the remedies for consumers appear to be complex.
