Cybervocabulary
How do you say “keylogger” and “phishing” in French? In this cybersecurity month that is coming to an end, the Office québécois de la langue française is adding its two cents with 200 definitions of the most well-known concepts in this field. “Keylogger” and “phishing” are the recommended translations for the first two examples. We appreciated the “digital watermark” for this rarely translated practice called “watermarking”, which consists of inserting a recognizable signature in digital documents. And it’s even an opportunity to learn new concepts like “over-encryption”, which consists of encrypting data several times, “disaster recovery” after an attack or our favorite, the “honeypot”, where we attract hackers with a deliberately vulnerable device.

Our reviews
Two completely different video games caught our attention this week. First of all, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, orchestrated by the Eidos-Montreal studio, totally seduced us with its high-flying graphics, its stripping humor and its gripping story. You take on the role of a blond boy still hooked on the 1980s, Star-Lord, aided by a completely disparate quartet, Gamora, Rocket, Drax and the tree-man Groot. The only reservation: the omnipresence of the difficult battles that follow one another. On the Nintendo side, Mario Party Superstars resumes for the 17e once a proven recipe since 1999, where four players roll the dice on a virtual board, collect coins and stars and compete in 100 mini-games, some of which are taken from Nintendo 64 and GameCube.

Uncharted
Considered by many players to be the quintessential action-adventure game series, one of the first with Assassin’s Creed who redefined the genre, Uncharted had never had the right to a film adaptation. It has been around since the very beginnings of this PlayStation-exclusive franchise, which sold 41 million copies between 2007 and 2017. The suspense is over: Sony recently confirmed the release of a film in February 2022, starring Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas and, in the lead role of Nathan Drake, Tom Holland. The trailer bodes well, with that mix of humor, archeology, constant combat and climbing that characterizesUncharted.
