The 2024 edition of the Techno Parade, a showcase for electronic music in Paris every September since 1998, has been cancelled due to the Olympic Games (July 26-August 11) and Paralympic Games (August 28-September 8), announced the Technopol association, which organises it, at the end of July 2024.
“The organization of the Olympic Games created considerable production and logistical constraints for the preparation of the event,” explained Technopol in a press release. “The tank assembly site, Reuilly lawn, is occupied until the end of November by a military camp made necessary for the Olympic Games. No other site was available and no other date was possible”, Tommy Vaudecrane, president of the association, told AFP.“We are disappointed, but we understand this exceptional situation. We will meet up with the friends of the Techno Parade next year to make electronic music resonate throughout Paris.“, he added.
Last September, the Techno Parade brought together some 400,000 people, according to the organizers, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of this great electro parade. Since its creation in 1998, only two editions of the Techno Parade have been canceled: in 2001, in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks, and in 2021 due to Covid.
