It’s an iconic celebration that all fans of the French basketball team remember. Stephen Curry, the point guard for Team USA, had brought out his traditional “good night” celebration, mimicking a “bonne nuit” with his hands, after having chained 3-point baskets during the Olympic Games final, on Saturday, August 10. The Golden State Warriors player had disgusted the French (victory 98-87), unable to resist the diabolical address of the “chef”, his nickname, with 24 points. His coach, Steve Kerr, remembered it on Monday evening, August 19, during the Democratic Party convention in Chicago.
The coach of the American team and the Warriors, who was invited to the podium to deliver a speech and support Kamala Harris, even took up the celebration of his player. “Once the results are counted, we can, in the words of the great Stephen Curry, say to Donald Trump: ‘Good night'”concluded Steve Kerr at the end of his speech, mimicking the “Good night” with both hands joined. A speech that was published by Barack Obama on his X account.
Steve Kerr has never hidden his preference for the Democratic Party. He has publicly spoken out against racial discrimination and for more repressive gun control laws on several occasions. The former Chicago Bulls guard has a fabulous track record, with five NBA titles as a player (three with the Bulls and two with the San Antonio Spurs). He then embraced a coaching career with immense success, winning the North American basketball championship four times with the Warriors, considered one of the greatest teams in NBA history.
Steve Kerr has also been the coach of Team USA since 2021, with whom he won gold at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics.
