Teachers demonstrate in front of Geneviève Guilbault’s office

The pouring rain did not dampen the ardor of several members of the Autonomous Federation of Education (FAE) who demonstrated at the start of the day Monday in Quebec.

Several of them were seen in front of the constituency office of Deputy Prime Minister Geneviève Guilbault, on Route Jean-Gauvin, in the Cap-Rouge sector.

Representatives of the union also went inside, with the aim of communicating their demands to the minister.

Without strike funds, the approximately 66,500 teachers affiliated with the FAE have been on an indefinite general strike for more than three weeks, causing the closure of 40% of the province’s schools.

Contrary to the wish expressed by Prime Minister François Legault last Wednesday, they were not able to open their doors Monday morning.
