Teacher salary | A blatant lack of respect from Minister Drainville

I am one of those people who have respect for elected officials, because I think most of them are there for the right reasons and despite the fact that their decisions often make us gasp, we are lucky to live in a country democracy where we can criticize government decisions in the public arena without fearing for our lives.

Earlier this week, Bernard Drainville showed us that he, Minister of Education, is not in the right place and he should remember, every day of his mandate, that he occupies an ejection seat. His reaction to the question from Michel David, journalist at Dutyconcerning the salaries of elected officials compared to those of teachers, felt full-blown contempt for all those who, every day, go to the front to ensure the education of our children.

Yes, at the front, because schools have become battlefields with all the unfavorable conditions for learning that we know.

In Quebec, they try to make us believe that education is a priority. My eye !

It is certainly not with Mr. Drainville, who shows a blatant lack of respect for teachers, that relations between school workers and the government will improve. Good relationships begin when there is respect on both sides.

Mr. Drainville should apologize for his clumsy remarks, not cry, apologize in public and clearly explain what he meant by his condescending air and remarks.
