Taylor Swift gestures. On Friday, February 16, the singer made a donation of 100,000 dollars (93,000 euros) for the family of the woman killed, Wednesday, February 14, in Kansas City in the shootings that broke out during the parade in honor of the local American football team, victorious in the Super Bowl. Taylor Swift, currently in Australia for a series of concerts as part of her world tour “The Eras Tour”, is the companion of Travis Kelce, star player of the Chiefs.
Two donations of $50,000 were made under the name of the pop star, in a relationship with a Kansas City Chiefs player, on a fundraising site set up for the family of Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan. A member of Taylor Swift’s entourage then confirmed to the trade magazine Variety that these two donations indeed came from the singer.
Two minors imprisoned
In a message posted with one of the donations, the latter shared its “deepest condolences”. The crowdfunding page, opened Thursday, showed nearly $250,000 in donations as of midday Friday, with some 2,700 donors.
The shooting that erupted near the Kansas City train station as the parade drew to a close also injured 22 people, many of them children. Two minors were charged and imprisoned in a detention center for juvenile offenders after the shootings which devastated the parade in honor of the local American football team, victorious in the Super Bowl.
