The Chicago Blackhawks acquired forward Taylor Hall and veteran Nick Foligno on Monday, selling Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula to the Boston Bruins.
As a result, Hall will likely have the opportunity to watch another star’s National League debut very closely, as the Hawks are expected to draft Connor Bedard No. 1 in the amateur auction on Wednesday. Earlier in his career, in 2015-2016 with the Edmonton Oilers, the 31-year-old athlete was in the same locker room as a rookie named Connor McDavid.

For the Bruins, Hall helped his team set new records for wins (65) and points (135) in 2022-23. He had 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points in 61 games. In the first-round series against the Florida Panthers, he added eight points in seven outings.
His contract includes a partial no-trade slate and he will earn $6 million a year over the next two seasons.
Foligno, for his part, had 26 points in 60 games last season, recording one goal and two assists in six playoff games. Eligible for autonomy without compensation, he has just completed a two-year, $7.6 million pact.
Playing on defense, Mitchell played 35 games for Chicago in 2022-23, compared to four for Regula, who played more with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.
