There are only two French players left in the men’s draw at Wimbledon. After Ugo Humbert’s defeat against Carlos Alcaraz in the round of 16 on Sunday, Frenchmen Arthur Fils and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard will try to do better on Monday to reach the quarter-finals of the London tournament. The former will face world number 9, Alex de Minaur, while his compatriot will have to beat Lorenzo Musetti, 25th in the ATP rankings. Among the favourites, Novak Djokovic will face Holger Rune, while Alexander Zverev will face Taylor Fritz.
In the women’s competition, Elena Rybakina, winner of the London Grand Slam in 2022, will have to overcome Anna Kalinskaya. The world number 4 is the last big favorite still in the running after the premature eliminations of world number 1 Iga Swiatek, her runner-up in the WTA rankings Coco Gauff and the unfortunate double finalist on the London grass, Ons Jabeur. Having defeated the latter, Elena Svitolina will face Wang Xinyu, while Jelena Ostapenko will face Yulia Putintseva. Finally, the American Danielle Collins, who is continuing her last season on the circuit in the best possible way, will face Barbora Krejcikovacrowned champion at Roland-Garros in 2021, for a place in the quarter-finals.
